There’s nothing like a big bowl of slow cooked chili on a winter night but this isn’t that. This easy vegan chili dog recipe is for a quick meal on a busy summer night. A comfort classic that requires some extra napkins and a large appetite. I love a slow cooked chili but I realize all you need for this recipe is a can of beans, seasoning and a tiny bit of vegan protein to level up a boring hot dog.

These days there are a few vegan hotdog brands to chose from but I always stick with the Lightlife brand. This is not a sponsered blog post, my husband just really likes that brand. Toppings and cheese are completely up to you but I melted Follow Your Heart American Cheddar slices onto my bread and It was so delicious. I know there are a few vegan canned chili options but I have been unable to find one with less sodium than we like so that’s why I like to make my own. For the best meaty flavor I like to add impossible meat. I used a pre cut hamburger patty because I thought an entire package of the impossible ground would be a lot for two people.
